Question
My daughter a medicaid receipant was in Missouri for vacation when she became ill and had to go to the ER. Now the hospitals are billing me even though my state of Arizona is willing to pay. Can they legally bill me for the charges even though it was emergency treatment and Arizona is willing to pay? The hospital in Missouri just refuses to bill

Answer
Hi Jolene

That is the problem with Medicaid.  Each State is a separate identity and have their own regulations.  Check with the case worker in your State and try going the other route.  Take the unpaid bill from Missouri and file a claim with Arizona.  They may do this using a paper claim, or the easy way, through a hearing.
