Question Hi, Lashunda I know it says you are primarily familiar with Texas but I just have a general question. I am an SSD recipient and I will be starting medicare in august. I received a letter about receiving help with my medicare premiums. I called the assistance office in my state and they told me I qualify but I thought my income was higher than what was stated on my letter. Which states the 1,660 for a married couple. I questioned the woman from the assistance office and she stated that I qualify now and she was mailing me an application. My income will be closer to the 1,660 in august. Not sure if I should wait until august when the premium is actually being taken out or not.. Sorry for the length just a little confused not sure if you can help me or not
Thank you
Leann
Answer Hi Leann. Thanks for the question. It probably feels as if you are not doing the right thing. However, if you have given them all the information they have requested and required to determine if you are eligible then I suggest you go ahead and receive the benefit. Even if your income comes close to the $1660.00 requirement you still won't be at $1660.00. When the assistance office calculate a determination for additional assistance they use your income and formula's to determine if you are qualified. Most likely you qualified based on their calculations.
Take the benefit and always remember to submit any increases you receive in income. This will keep everything correct and straight.
