Question I am 67& receive SS and medicare A & B benefits as primary and personal insurance as secondary coverage. I have been retired but am now considering returning to work( as a private consultant, not an employee) which will require some overseas travel. What would my health insurance coverage situation be if I became ill or injured while in a foreign country.

Answer Hi Patrick
With Medicare it is pretty limited. From US mainland: emergency when traveling in a direct course to Alaska; In emergency if nearest treatment facility is in Canada or Mexico; US possessions.
With Medicare Advantage plan: Emergency or urgent care outside of coverage area, with some tricky reporting rules.
With a Medigap plan: Up to $50,000 lifetime coverage with some plans.
