Question I am totally new to all of this. My brother 42 suffered a massive stroke. He has NJ Medicare Part A and just received eligibility for NJ Medicaid as of 4/1/09. My mother is receiving bills from Drs, hospital, rehab etc. where Medicare has paid most of the bill but there is a balance due. As Medicare is the primary and Medicaid is the secondary, do I submit the balance of the bills to Medicaid? Are there claim forms? How does this work?
Answer Hi Suzanna
The Medicaid regulations and procedures vary from State to State and I am in Michigan.
You can talk with his case worker and get the information regarding the Medicaid procedures.
You can also call 1-800-792-8820 and get the nearest Medicare trained SHIP counselor service in your area. They can meet with you, go through the paperwork with your assistance, and explain your options to you.
