Hi! I’m a 5th grade student at Hermann Middle School. I am doing a project on the Medieval Times. I would really appreciate if you could answer these questions.
How long would it take the workers to build a castle? How come the castles spread so many diseases? Why did the evil kings like to slaughter innocent people? What are all of the ways they would kill them? Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Grant
Answer Hi Grant,
I'll be glad to help with your questions.
Constructing a large castle could take many years - especially since the owners always were adding parts to it. However, the main part of a castle took about 6 months to construct.
Castles were very drafty because they were very large, and had many open spaces. They were very cold during winter. Those conditions certainly contributed to people becoming sick.
I wouldn't say that there were lots of evil kinds who slaughtered innocent people. For most of the middle ages, kings were not especially powerful, and couldn't command armies to kill innocent people. When kings were in charge of armies, enemies would be battled, and of course people would be killed. But, the middle ages were not full of kings killing innocent people.
