Medieval History - history

Expert: Marc Kamin - 1/30/2009

Question
1. Does the Mayan has an empire because under google they say they have an empire?

2. When we want to find out who is the most powerful, what do we measures: empires, civilizations, culture, etc.?

Answer
Hi Henry,

Yes, there was a Mayan Empire that flourished around AD 800, centered in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.

How a person chooses to define "powerful" is his or her own choice. Influence, technology, military strength, are some useful factors.

I hope that this is helpful, Henry.

- Marc
