Medieval History - knights

Expert: Marc Kamin - 7/13/2009

Question
how many knights were part of the round table and is the story if king aothor true

Answer
Hi Maurice,

I'll be glad to help with your question.

The stories about King Arthur's Court give different accounts for how many knights there were. The figures range from 12 to 150.

The story as it's told is fiction. However, the consensus among historians is that there was a medieval Celtic king named Arthur, who rallied knights to fight against the invading Germanic tribes. So, the story as told may have some basis in fact.

I hope that this is helpful, Maurice!
