Question
I want to know is meditation beneficial for ADD and OCD and depression and other anxiety disorders?.I have heard while doing meditation ones mind goes from beta state to theta and delta states creating relaxation.which is very beneficial for them.

Answer
Fazle, Thank you for your question.

Recent scientific research has shown that Transcendental Meditation (www.tm.org) is very effective for ADD and ADHD. Note that Transcendental Meditation is not the same as most other types of meditation. It has actual scientific evidence that it is an effective self-improvement technique in the areas of health, personal relationships, productivity, and others, due to its elimination of stored stresses.

There is a great deal of misunderstanding about brain waves, such as alpha, theta, and delta. The subject is too complex to cover here. If you wish to understand brain waves, I suggest a Web search.

Transcendental Meditation produces much more than just relaxation. It is probably the single most efficient technique for actually dissolving stored stress, verified by scientific research and the experience of those who have learned the technique.

I hope this brief answer has helped. Please feel free to submit follow up questions, if needed.
