Mercedes/Mercedes E320 cabin air filter access

Question
I have a 2001 Mercedes E320.  It has a charcoal filter on the cabin air circulation system.  I would like to change the filter(s). Qusetion #1 is: where are the filters located and how can I access them? Question #2, does the filtration system still use the pleated paper filter when the charcoal filters are installed? Or are the charcoal filters used in place of the pleated paper filters?
