Question
I've read several of your answers on AllExperts and hope you're able to help.  How might one determine whether a local shop was of sufficient integrity and qualification to repair a '93 300e?  I'm near San Angelo, TX, and the nearest dealer is about 150 miles away.

Secondly, the car was running fine.  It has the 3.2L gas engine and about 75k miles.  I filled up, drove about 10 highway miles to the house and it started stumbling, didn't want to run.  I shut it off, waited 5 - 10 minutes, started it (stumbling), drove a quarter mile, nailed the throttle to try and clear the plugs (ran great), let of the throttle to turn back into the driveway and it stumbled - dying when I pulled into the garage.  I removed the gas cap, and it idles better, but still improperly.

I don't want to buy pricey parts in a wild goose troubleshoot, but also don't want to tow the car so far.  OK, thanks, Scott

Answer
Answer:
You describe classic symptoms of bad fuel.

Drain the tank (tank strainer may also be plugged = replace it), flush the lines, add 1/4 tank of fresh premium fuel from a high volume major brand station.

If the issue remains, look through this thread for a local shop.
