Question
Hi, I'm Mark.
I was wondering what the weather, precip and temp outlook for the southeast and South Carolina is for the rest of May is, and all the way through
June and July is? What is the summer outlook? Is it really supposed to be stormier? Are we still in a drought? Do you see any long term relief? What about
about hurricanes?

thanks

Answer
Hi Mark

I recently had a request that had similiar questions, here is how I responded:

Question: What is the May and June outlook for the southeast united states? What about the Summer Months? Is it supposed to be stormier? Does weather happen in cyles? How long does it take for it to cycle around? Does the Eastern seaboard stand a good chance for getting hit by hurricanes this year? Why is it the they always slam the outerbanks of North Carolina? Is the earth really warming? What happen if the balance between salt and fresh water is disturbed? If the earth is warming wouldn't it cause the earth to cool eventually if the polar ice melts?

Answer: Hi Mike

May & June look warm and humid; the summer months just look warm.

May should be stormier but June will be normal.

Some patterns in weather do follow cycles.

Different cycles have different lengths of time.

The eastern coast of the US should experience hurricane activity this year.

The eastern portion of North Carolina juts out into the Atlantic and thus is more in the path of hurricanes that re-curve.

Salinity can lead to the Gulf Stream being suppressed downward in the ocean.

It is true that global warming should create cooling because of increased cloud cover which lets less sunlight through.
