Meteorology (Weather)/long term weather prediction

Question
Hi Donald,
I saw on weather.com that they offer 30-90 day weather forecasts.  I was wondering what the inputs into such a long term forecast are.  Particularly are there inputs that would predict likely disruption of airline travel 30-90 days in advance.  I am currently researching the airline industry and am interested in publicly available data that might help forecast airline disruptions.

Thanks,
John

Answer
Hi John

If you go to:

http://weatherknowledge.com/long_range_forecast.html

you will see some of the info they use.

For longer, they may use:

As to short range disruptions, go to:

http://weatherknowledge.com/weather_forecasting_aids.html

and scroll down to the "Severe Weather" section.
