Question
We are having a disagreement at work about how high and low temperture work. Is the high and low for today between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM or is today high today and the low for the next morning? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Phillip

For a particular day, the high and low temperature is for that day only.

A weather system may have increasing or decreasing temperatures over several days and the resulting description of the high and low temperatures for that "event" will be the high and/or low over a span of more than one day.

It is true some forecasters will give the "low" for the night to include after midnight in that the low temperature for the average night is around 4 to 5 am and the warmest temperature is usually around 3 to 5pm.
