Question
Is the California high pressure system caused by sinking air that had risen from the equator or is it caused by the cold pacific ocean water, or both.

Answer
Hi Mark

High pressure areas are caused by both warm air and cold air (at different times)depending upon the season and location. California typically is more impacted by the cold air type.
