Wow that is a fantastic answer.

What would an average reading for a low pressure in Britain and an average reading for a high be. I think the units are millibars is that right?

Also would a low pressure in say the Alps be a lot different than one in Britain in terms of the barometric pressure.

While rather thorough, it would have been helpful to give an example of the numeric reading, i.e., "1015" and an explanation of what that number meant... higher or lower pressure. Perhaps a comparison of two numbers.
