According to paragraph 358.1 of the 2008-2012 Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church on Mandatory Retirement: "Every clergy member of an annual conference who will have attained age seventy-two on or before July 1 in the year in which the conference is held shall automatically be retired." All of Paragraph 358 has to do with various aspects of retirement. You might find it helpful to read the section in full.
