Question
QUESTION: Thank you for your time.  I have a few questions I hope you can answer.
My wife is the child of former Mexican citizens.  Her sister recently exercised the right to claim her dual US and Mexican citizenship.  My wife is considering pursuing her dual citizenship (US and Mexico) for business purposes and the ability to own land in Mexico.  My questions are the following:
1. If my wife obtains her dual cit can I as the spouse of a dual cit also pursue the the option of obtaining dual Mexican/US citizenship?  If so, is there still a residency requirement? Can we obtain dual status for our children?

2. If she becomes a dual cit and starts a business, can I become a joint owner by virtue of our marriage thus minimizing or negating the work visa requirements for me?

3. Again should she obtain her dual status, would I as the spouse of a dual cit be able to purchase and own land in Mexico?

Thank you for your answers

ANSWER: Before anything else, thanks for writing me at AllExperts.com

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Followup questions:
1. What is the process for my wife to obtain her Mexican citizenship?  What documentation would we need?

2.  What is the process for me to get a valid 'FM'?  What is the time frame to obtain this status (rough timeline)

3. Per your answer about the 3 years for me to reside in Mexico to get dual citizenship, would it still be possible to obtain the citizenship if I was a part-time resident of Mexico as long as the majority of my time was spent in residence in Mexico? (I travel extensively for business reasons as well long-term vacations in other countries)

Thank you again for your time.
