Expert: LIC.D'LARA - 5/5/2009

Question
Acting on bad advice, I obtained an FM3, even tho I intend to reside here permanently.  Now I would like to apply for FM2 status and understand it is possible to apply time from the FM3 for credit towards the 5 years residency requirement.  If so, how do I go about it?

Answer
You need to apply for adjustment of migratory status. To do so you need to go to any office of the Instituto Nacional de Migracion to fill out the forms and get more information about the requirements. You can also visit the internet site at www.inami.gob.mx
