Question
Hi I was wondering what the best cheapest way to travel to mexico would be.I was considering a tourist party area that is cheap as well somewhere fun. Cool hotels to stay at yet not overly expensive and also what the best way to travel would be driving to mexico taking a bus or an airplane? and do you know if US residents need passports to travel now?

Answer
If you fly into Mexico you do need a passport.  If your drive or take the bus, you do not need one.  I do not recommend that you attempt to drive through Mexico, if you have the time, and want to save money the bus may be the way to go.  Check out Grayline for more information on bus transportation.

Depending on when you want to travel and where you are flying from, flying may not be as expensive as you think.  The key is to plan in advance and purchase tickets early.

Of course the party place in Mexico is Cancun, which offers a variety of hotels and resorts to fit just about any budget.

If you are considering flying, you need to apply for a passport as soon as possible as it takes about 8 weeks to process.
