Question
Hi there! I'm going to Cancun in December and we're staying at the Grand Mayan and the website says something about how they have to haul sand to their beach and that it washed away...? So I was just wondering if that means that there's no beach now or what that could mean? And if there is no beach anymore, could you please tell me how close the closest one is? Thank you!

Answer
This resort does have a beach, it is however a manmade or man improved beach so it is very rocky. I do encourage you to bring watershoes so you don't worry about stepping on any rocks and hurting your feet.

You can always go into the town of Playa del Carmen and enjoy the public beach there if you want that beautiful sandy beach.  It is just a short drive from your resort, and it is a great opportunity to do some shopping, and enjoy some great local food, and party at Senior Frogs.  Plus, if you want you can take the ferry to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen, this gives you another option to enjoy a day of shopping and exploring.
