About Tom Plattenberger
Expertise
Please ask me questions about visiting The Jaltemba Bay Area. I would be happy to answer questions about the villages of La Peņita, Rincon de Guayabitos and Los Ayala.

Experience
My partner Bruce and I have been vacationing in Mexico for over 15 years. We now own a home in La Peņita, Nayarit. Eventually we will retire there. I run a bulletin board that is frequented by homeowners and home renters and people who like to visit this area.

Question
Eh Tom thanks for youre time.Ive spent the last couple months trying plan a little surf trip, and has been nothing more than fustrating.I have never left Canada,Ive narrowed it down to the Los Cabos area or an area just an hour bus ride from Puerto Vallarta( the name escapes me).I dont want to go to an all inclusive resort nor do I wanna go too cheap.Im single 33 and just want to relax, drink cold beer, mingle and learn to surf.Any suggestions or input? Thanks for your time,
Robbie

Answer
Hola Robbie...

The place north of Puerto Vallarta that you speak of almost surely has to be Sayulita or San Francisco.  If you do an internet search for "Surf Sayulita" or "Surf San Pancho" you should get a ton of information.  You will find lodging to be a bit pricey until you get north of San Francisco.  But if you hang out with other surfers, you might find someone who will share rent.  Once you are far enough north of Puerto Vallarta (north of San Francisco) you would find lower cost lodging but less surf.

My guess is that you would be happier to not over-plan your trip.  I think you should spend your time finding out about what surf sounds best for you and at what time of year, pick a place and just head on down.

Tom
