Mexico/crafts market day

Question
A few years back I had the luck of visiting La Penita on thursday and enjoyed
their crafts market.  We will be returning again through the area and were
wondering if thursday is still the crafts market day?

Answer
Hello, Cathy...

Yes, Thursday is still Tianguis.  It is a street market and an interesting diversion for us to have here every week in La Pe񩴡.  For people like myself who live here, it is sometimes the only way to tell what day of the week it is!

Art and craft items are a wonderful element of what is mostly utilitarian items, clothes, plastic everything, fruits, vegetables, new and used tools, pirated DVDs & CDs, "snake oil" peddlers, fortune tellers and medicinal herbs.

Now, as the season changes, there are less snowbirds and tourists and the whole show shrinks accordingly, notably the art and craft.

I am glad that you enjoyed Tianguis and hope you can time your visit to hit it again.

I have taken the liberty of changing your question and my answer so they are viewable by the public.  I see no reason why your good question and my answer should be private.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

Expertise

Please ask me questions about visiting The Jaltemba Bay Area. I would be happy to answer questions about the villages of La Peñita, Rincon de Guayabitos and Los Ayala.

Experience

My partner Bruce and I have been visiting Mexico for over 20 years. We now own a home in La Peñita, Nayarit where we live full time. I run a bulletin board that is frequented by homeowners and home renters and people who like to visit this area. You may ask me just about anything, but please do not ask me to suggest a place to stay. If you are in search of lodging, please post your needs to my Bulletin Board: Jaltemba Bay Folk.
