Question
hi pam,
now that the scare of travelling to mexico due to the drug wars has practically disappeared, we are now concerned if it is safe to go to playa due to the swine flu. our trip is scheduled for july.   cdc states to not go if not necessary.  what is this region like as related to the swine flu and what is your opinion?  thank you.

Answer
The CDC is only recommending those that are traveling in the next 7 to 10 days consider not traveling to Mexico.  Since you are not scheduled to travel till July I wouldn't worry about anything this far out.  Typically the flu comes and goes within a short period of time, so it is not expected to be a threat that far out.

I hope that helps to alleviate your fears.

Pam
