Question Hi Mac, I have two questions about FM3. 1. If I am late in renewing; (say a month) do I have a difficult time getting across the border? and 2. The consulate will only give me 6 months for my car. After I renew my FM3, do I have an extension for my car even though the paperwork does not say it? Thanx
Answer I'm not an expert on Visas, so you should be asking the closest Mexican Immigration office. I was under the impression that you could keep a car in the country for the duration of your FM3 which is 1 year. I do know your FM3 is void if you did not renew it. You can always drive into Mexico on a tourist Visa (FMT)(at the border) and later apply for a new FM3 in the closest city where they have and immigration office. I'm sure you will have to start from scratch though, so have passport, mug shots, 3 month bank account statements, etc. ready for them. Buena Suerta!
