Mexico - fm3

Expert: JRinPV - 6/22/2009

Question
Hi JR, I have an fm3 but I would like to cross the border when it is already expired by about two weeks. Is that a problem?  And
they will only give me 6 months on my car because of the fm3 expiration date. If I get the fm3 renewed; can I keep the car in Mexico for a year even if the paperwork says only 6 months?

Answer
Well, you're going to incur a fine for the late re-newel, I would come in on a FMT tourist visa, but the hologram sticker on the windshield is a major problem. Do you scrape it off or not ? there's the rub !
Are you coming to Puerto Vallarta ? If so I can put you in touch with a 'facilitator'.
You can e-mail me at jr@vallartainfo.com
