Mexico - one-time tax exempt shipping from USA to Merida

Expert: Ellen Fields - 6/24/2009

Question
Hola, Ellen, Can you clarify something? I get various responses to this
question. I have fm3 visa (since October 2008), and want to ship container of
stuff from USA to Merida. one source said this must be done within 1st 6
months of holding visa. this period has expired. another source said still
possible to do but at beginning of 2nd year. What is rule, I'm wondering?
Muchas gracias in advance.

Answer
Honestly, Jim, I'm not a lawyer and I wouldn't want to make a pronouncement on this if I wasn't completely sure, which I'm not.

Try emailing Francisco at Yucatan Lawyers (www.yucatanlawyers.com). He is a young, ambitious lawyer who I know who speaks English. You can actually chat with him on his site.

He'll know!
