About Linda Leonard
Expertise
My husband and I have travelled to mainland Mexico for approx. 10 years, never staying in resorts, but rather seeking out economic, clean, safe, non-touristy little accomodations. Now that we have retired, we are spending the winters RVing in Mexico along the coastlines. We love the people, the climate and the culture and are working hard at our Spanish.

Question
I am trying to find non-gringo style houseing in Rosarito but every place I look at online is fancy vacation rentals or condos. I was hopeing you could send me a link or give me some advice where to go to actually talk to someone about affordable rentals. I just need a 2 bedroom place preferably not a condo or apt where I share walls, that is under 500 a month since I have a limited income. Where do I go to find someone to talk to about that sort of houseing?

Answer
Hi,  I'm sorry but we are not familiar with the Baja area- we travel only on the mainland.  However, I do know that most long term, non-vacation type rentals are usually owned by simple Mexican families that do not have internet service and therefore are not advertised on the net.  We have found that your best strategy is to get there and read the local bulletin boards and talk to local people.  Sorry I don't have any other info- good luck with your plans.
