Question Hello!
I am an Early Years specialist and I would like to come to Merida for 6 months and volunteer, teaching English. I am a qualified teacher from England. I have a lot of experience and can speak some Spanish.
I have looked on the internet, but cannot see any oportunities.
Did wonder about the Casa De La Cultura, but not sure if that is paid employment or if they run English courses for very young children?
Would be very grateful of any help, thank you.
Answer Hello,
Most places that need or could use volunteers don't have the resources to keep up a website, so you aren't going to find much there.
You didn't mention if you are looking for any compensation (a place to stay, etc.).
I can suggest these places that all could use volunteer help:
There are probably many others. If you have a place to stay, transportation, etc. and are just looking for a place to go and teach English to children every day for no pay, you could probably just walk up to any school or preschool in Merida and they would gladly take your help. There is a real shortage of native English speakers teaching children here, both in Merida and in the surrounding countryside.
