Mexico - ferry travel

Expert: Julia Taylor - 9/16/2009

Question
Is there a ferry going from Cabo San Lucas to Mazatlan and vice versa?  If so, what is the ferry and the fare?

Answer
Rudolph,

The ferry goes from LA PAZ (NOT Los Cabos) to Mazatlan.

If you have entered Mexico through Baja California you will need a tourist card and if you are taking your vehicle, you will need to get a vehicle permit. You can get it at the ferry station in Pichilinque (15 minutes from La Paz, where the ferry terminal is.)

It's hard to get ferry tickets, especially during holidays, so go make a reservation well ahead of your desired departure date, then buy your ticket right when the office opens.

Check the web site for fares and schedules. http://www.bajaferries.com/

Enjoy!

Kindest Regards,

Julia C Taylor author of Mexico: The Trick is Living Here and creator of www.home-sweet-mexico.com
