Mexico/Retirement & bass fishing in Mexico

Good morning. My lady and I currently live in Minneapolis Minnesota. Being from Arizona, I have bass fished lakes closer to the border several times, but never further south. My lady & I will be retiring in 2015, and we have our hearts set on doing so in Mexico. We are currently looking at several areas. Loreto, Puerto Esconsido, and Lake Chapala. Can anyone tell us if there are any good bass fishing lakes within an hour of these locations? Also, does anyone know if there are bass in Lake Chapala, cannot locate information on this anywhere? Thank you for your time.

I'd be surprised if anything lives in Lake Chapala :) OK, maybe not that bad, but I wouldn't eat anything caught there.
About 1.5 hours south on Puerto Vallarta there's a man made lake/reservoir El Cajon de Peña with bass fishing, also a lot of Langostinos (crayfish) come from there.

I run a web site on Puerto Vallarta, so I have information on practically everything, except what the hotels are like - since I haven`t stayed in one for over 20 years.

I have lived here in Vallarta for 11 years and first visited 26 years ago.
