Mexico/Used car purchasing

Question
I was interested in exporting some of the classic cars I see running around Mexico. I even toured the giant salvage yard in Mexico City and saw numerous "fixable" wrecks.
What does it take to buy cars from individuals and ship them back to the US for restoration. Another option would be to restore them in Mexico for export but I think the taxes would be much worse.
Is this something you can help me with.

Answer
Thanks for writing Dave.

Not sure if you are in the State of Washington or Washington, D. C.

The answer to your question is in the hands of Mexican Customs. This site has what you need:

I believe you ought to contact your closest Mexican Consulate or the Embassy in D. C. and ask the authorities this question.
