About Carey
Expertise
I can answer in-depth questions about Cozumel, Mexico and many general questions about the Mexican Riviera.

Experience
I host a large website devoted to Cozumel and live on the island myself so my advice is always up-to-date and frequently checked for veracity. For nearly a year, I was one of the most popular All Expert hosts for Yucatan/Cozumel questions with very high marks for fast response and good information. However, I lost touch when we made the full-time move to Cozumel in December and was, understandably, dropped from the roster. Now, settled in and with a DSL connection, no less, I'm ready to help out visitors coming to an area of the world I love -- and know very well.

Mexico - Beach Huts

Expert: Carey - 3/26/2004

Question
My husband and I are thinking of flying to Cancun and renting a car on April 10-17.  I have heard that there are places to stay on the beach-huts.  Not a huge resort.  If there is, where do you eat, are there bathrooms and showers.  Somewhere between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.  Our budget is very tight but we need to get away.  I found very reasonable airfare from Minneapolis.  We would rent a car and drive down.  What is the weather like in April?  Anything that you could tell us would be greatly appreciated.  Sincerely, Gayle

Answer
Just drive down the highway from Cancun towards Playa del Carmen and every time you see a sign on your left (oceanside) that looks likely, drive on in and see if they have what you want.  If you don't find it anywhere else, continue down to Tulum and go out to the ocean.  There are a whole bunch of little inexpensive beachfront places down there.  One called The Diamante friends told me had perfectly decent huts on the beach and served an excellent dinner.  They just popped in and found this place without a reservation last month.  Weather in April will be hottish but not too bad. Figure 85 day and 75 nights.
