Question
My daughter is visiting at Christmas and taking a charter to PV then by bus to Guad where we will pick her up.  What buslines are good and where is the terminal in Guad?  We will get a taxi from SJC and go there.  Thanks for any advice Sincerely Ev Bryans- Canada at present

Answer
Hi Evie, our favourite bus line is ETN but all the national lines are very good.

Tell your daughter not to sit close to the driver, because a curtain covers the front of the bus and you can't see out.

There are 2 terminals in Guad, but you need the national terminal. Don't get confused with the local terminal where the Chapala buses go, that terminal is off Independencia down towards the Cathedral in the historic section.

The national terminal is on the highway towards Tonala.

Watch for the signs C. de Autobus (Central de Autobus).

The terminals are behind a Gigante food store on the right side of the highway. It is a little confusing getting in and out, but follow the signs. The terminal is huge with each bus line occupying a specific area.

Hope that helps, I'm sure your daughter will enjoy her visit.

Expertise

I lived full time in the Chapala-Ajijic area for 7 years, and other areas 5 years. During that time I provided information (health care, working papers, immigration, driving, cost of living, insurance, culture, divorce in Mexico, trusts vs direct deed, etc) to help people make the decision about whether the area was right for them, either full or part-time. I live legally in Mexico.

Experience

Founding partner of a facilitation company for people thinking about relocating to Mexico. I am no longer involved in this company's activities. Have driven extensively, to the coast (Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Colima),to Patzcuaro, etc. Bused to Mexico City, flew to Chiapas. Also driven in Honduras, from Ontario Canada through border crossings at Laredo and Reynosa Texas. Can provide instructions and border crossing info.
