About Ron Russell
Expertise
I lived full time in the Chapala-Ajijic area for 7 years, and now Manzanillo area 4 years. During that time I provided information (health care, working papers, immigration, driving, cost of living, insurance, culture, divorce in Mexico, trusts vs direct deed, etc) to help people make the decision about whether the area was right for them, either full or part-time. Now living north of Manzanillo on the Pacific Coast. I live legally in Mexico.

Experience
Founding partner of a facilitation company for people thinking about relocating to the Lake Chapala area of Mexico. I am no longer involved in this company's activities. Have driven extensively in the area, to the coast (Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Colima),to Patzcuaro, etc. Bused to Mexico City, flew to Chiapas. Also driven in Honduras, from Ontario Canada through border crossings at Laredo and Reynosa Texas to Lakeside. Can provide instructions and border crossing info. Mexico - Roommate sought

Expert: Ron Russell - 11/8/2004

Question
What's the best way(s) to find a roommate to share a modest $300-500/month place at Lakeside?

Also, how should I look for a barebones used computer solely needed to connect to the Internet?

I understand Prodigy offers DSL for $45 a month?  Is this so?

Answer
Hola Roger, I would advertise for a roommate on the Lake Chapala Society's bulletin boards first, also on the boards at El Toritos and SuperLake Grocery stores. You could put an ad in the Guad Reporter, but you should get good response on the bulletin boards.

Not sure where to get a used computer. Try the St. Andrews' Anglican Church's Regalarama December 4, and check with the computer store in Plaza Bugamvilla. However most used computers are donated to local schools.

Yes DSL is inexpensive, BUT unless you sign up for 2 years you must buy the modem for about $200 (not sure the exact price).

Best regards,
       Ron
