About thepinkllama Expertise I can answer any questions you may have about breeding mice, dealing with an unexpected pregnancy in mice, how soon you can interact with the new babies, and any other concerns you may have surrounding the pregnancy, birth, nutrition, and offspring. I also have a vast knowledge of many helpful websites that you can look to for help. I won't be able to help with genetics or behavioral problems. I can help somewhat with disease, but you would obviously be better off with a vet. I can also help you with tips on how to tame a nervous mouse.
Experience I rescue pregnant doe's all the time and I have even bred my share of mice. I've been rescuing pregnant does for about two to three years now and I've seen over 100 births and pregnancies. I also work at the pet store in the small animals section and I've tamed countless mice, all they need is a bit of love and patience and you'll have a lifelong friend.
Education/Credentials I'm working towards a career as a nurse.
i would like to find out how mice pups are born. is it head first or tail first? also as the pups are coming out is the mother supposed to be moving around or should she be keeping still?
Answer I'm pretty sure it's head first, but it's pretty hard to see becuase the mother pulls them out quite fast. The mother will move around up until the final push where you will see her straining to give birth to the pup. As soon as it's head comes out she pulls the rest of it out and cleans it while she waits for the next pup to be born. They're born about 30 seconds to a minute apart but sometimes the wait is longer, it all depends on the mouse. Hope that helps.
