Question QUESTION: Hi,I have recently encountered this problem of blank web page. The page says its loaded but it still turns up blank. I then, acting on the advice of another answer to this problem, downloaded firefox and tried from there. It worked fine. But the following day the same problem occurred on the firefox. I have tried deleting caches %26 so on but to no avail. What could be causing this? All other websites work fine apart from that one. I have established that the website is fully functional because it works on other computers apart from mine.
ANSWER: Hi Muj,
Using Internet Explorer, go to:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp
Click "Continue to Symantec Security Check", in the next window click No when asked if you want to close this window, that will bring you to a window where you should click Virus Detection.
Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to: http://www.symantec.com/search/ and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.
I would also suggest downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from:
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Actually I would suggest running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware first, if the problem persists, then go to the Symantec site and run their free scan.
Hope this helps!

QUESTION: Hi, thanks for the advice but unfortunately nothing changed. The scan found one Adware.onestep which I removed.
The problem has progressed to another website now. I was able to see movie trailers on the Internet Movie Database but now that goes blank aswell? Its driving me crazy!!
Answer Hi Muj,
In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, under the General tab click Delete under Browsing History, in the next window check Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History, click Delete.
Follow the directions at the following site to remove Adware.OneStep, disable System Restore first:
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2008-112613-5052-99&...
After removing, run the free scan one more time. Once you have verified that the threat is off the computer, enable System Restore.
Hope this helps!
