Microsoft Internet Explorer - Browser IE 8 Browser problems

Expert: Frances Rhea - 5/21/2009

Question
I'm running Windows XP and have installed IE 8. I  have a problem when I try to connect to a site from Goggle or any other link. The browser gets "Re-directed" and some times it is impossible to the original site I was looking for. I don't have the problem if I use Mozilla.
Is there some fix for this ???

Thanks !

Ralph

Answer
I have been having unusual problems with IE 8 also recently. I've found most of my problems were with trojans that are wandering around the Internet.

There also seems to be lots of EMF wave influence in the air now-a-days.

Running an online virus scan can be very important for your computer

health even if you have a virus scanner installed on your computer. The

typical home computer may go online to check and download the current

virus definitions, but the virus definitions can be updated more

regularly than that, and different programs contain different

information. What one virus checker misses, another one may find. That is

why when suspicious behaviour occurs on my computer, the first thing I do

is go online and check my computer for problems.

You can run a free virus scan online at one of the following places:

housecall.trendmicro.com

www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
Installs Active-X component, and virus definitions. Then a system scan is

performed. BitDefender Online Scanner found 4 files with virus problems

that Kaspersky did not find.

www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Installs a java application that will scan your computer Critical Areas,

My Computer, specific folders, or one specific file. Download is easy and

free. Next time you visit your computer will be checked for the current

application version, and the current database. This will take about 20

minutes depending on your connection speed. The scanner take anywhere

from a few minutes to hours depending on what you choose to scan. At a

minimum always scan Critical Areas.

security.symantec.com

www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/activescan/

http://safety.live.com

You may also want to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from www.malwarebytes.org, and run it at least weekly.

If this does not help, let me know.
