Question When IE is clicked on, it opens for a few seconds (no homepage-altho there is one in properties) and then closes itself. If I use a chat room, the internetr works and I can work my way out to all internet sites from there--just will not open to a home page

After installing IE8, did you go to Windows Update and get the available updates? If not, would do so now.
Am trying to figure out how if IE closes, yet you can use a chat room which is on the web - interesting.
