Question QUESTION: Hi Lorry, I saw where Bruce had asked you a question, but it wasn't answered clearly, as far as I am concerned. If I am going to close a webpage anyway, when I log off of an account, do I have to log off AND close the webpage OR can I just close the webpage (or the tab that I am on). I understand about multiple tabs. I have used the computer for several years too. I just feel like I am doing an extra step if I log off AND then exit the tab or close the webpage.
Thanks in advance,
Beth
ANSWER: Hi Beth,
When you log out, Windows should close any open programs.
Hope this helps!

QUESTION: HI, that wasn't what I meant. Instead of logging out of a secure website, is it ok to just close the tab I am on and not log out of the website. I wondered if that was good enough. I had two conflicting instructors in college years ago. One said to log out AND close the tab, another said to JUST CLOSE the tab AND SKIP logging out. I don't log in and out of windows. I am the only user on this computer. I just mean is logging out of a website, when I am going to close the tab anyway, an extra step? Sorry if you are misunderstanding that part of it. This is my personal computer. Not worried about anyone else using it, just the hackers.
Answer Hi Beth,
Sorry that I misunderstood you. If you are the only one using the computer, closing the tab and skip logging out would be alright except for one thing. If someone hacked your computer and you didn't log out of that site, they (the hackers) could gain access. To play it safe, I would suggest logging out and then close the tab/program.
If you turn the computer off afterwards, there is nothing to worry about.
It is a shame that the computer was thought to bring the world together yet many people have nothing better to do than to see if they can access another computer and retrieve any information. I wish those people would use the brains to improve instead.
