Question I'm using Internet Explorer; Google is my default page, but I think that's immaterial. On the Internet Explorer browser page there is, at the very top, a line where the URL is displayed (such as--at the moment--http://www.gogle.com/) and just to the right of that is the "Address Bar Autocomplete" checkmark. If I click on it there is apparently a list of SOME OF the web sites I have previously visited. By moving my mouse up and down these are one-by-one highlighted AND there is a red "X" on the right side to delete that site from the list.
My question is: How do I ADD URLs to this list? My computer guru tells me that by simply going to a site its address is added to this list and it would appear that this is often true. But right now I want to go to the site where my mortgage is held. I go there frequently; I'd NEVER "red X it out"; but it's not there. Yet, one for a seed company I visited a year ago--and not since--is still there.
To reiterate: How do I add URLs to the browser drop-down address bar and have them STAY there?
Answer Hello,
To do this, you need to navigate to the URL, and add it to your favourites by clicking the button that looks like a star, with a green arrow pointing to the right. Once you add it, and next time you look for that URL, type either the name of the website (The name in the titlebar), or the URL of the listing.
This will automatically bring it up in the list, under the history items.
This however, only works in IE8, so if you arent on IE8, you will need to upgrade.
One thing to note, FireFox does manage this feature a lot better, so if you want better management of your URL's, I do suggest switching to Firefox.
Hope this helps
Jonathan
