Microsoft Internet Explorer - Virus & Browser error message

Expert: AdiM - 2/28/2004

Question
Hi,

I have very limited knowledge about the technical side of my computer.
Recently, it started doing weird things - links won't work, "Hybernate" won't work, websites that I haven't closed out disappear, etc.
I ran my Anti-virus program and a virus was found - "Trojan Horse Downloader.Turown.A". I was advised by this program to run a Windows Update.  When I tried to do that, I got an error message "Browser not configured"

I use MIE 6 and Windows XP.  Can you help me?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi, Hazel,

if you have a virus/Trojan in your computer,
then my advice is to get rid of it first,
otherwise any functions of your system might be altered.
In such cases, if you don't know how to do it,
then the best thing to do is to ask a tech to come and see
you computer.

Best regards,
AdiM
