Yesterday night I downloaded some updates for Java and the Yahoo Voice Messenger. After downloading the updates on Java I couldn't open any pop-up windows anymore. I tried to play a game in Yahoo, the window wouldn't open. I tried to open another pop-up window via a news link, it wouldn't open. It says a pop-up window was blocked.
I am becoming desperate, as I don't know what to do.
I turned off the pop-up blocker from Tools, I disabled my Norton Firewall, my security level setting is at Medium.
I have some on-line studies to do and I cannot access the university website where my courses are. I am becoming very desperate. I'll wait for your reply till very late tonight. I live in the UAE and the time here is GMT +4 (now is 10pm, GMT 6pm).
I am using Internet Explorer, Windows XP professional.
Thank you and regards,
Gabriel
Answer first of all sorry if its late....
I access net for only one-two hours daily..
and have just saw your question in my email...the first thing after opening my mails..
Seems like you have installed the Yahoo's toolbar along with yahoo's messenger...
Does your Internet explorer has a new tool bar added just below your address space in the browser...?? if you then you do have installed the yahoo's toolbar..
Yahoo toolbar includes a pop up blocker in it....its easy to operate...Just press the CTRL button while clicking for a link which opens in a new window....
or you can disable the pop up blocker by clicking the POPup Blocker's icon on the toolbar ( it will be on the right of Yahoo's search box.. normally its the second icon...it has a yellow window and a small diamond like shape attached to it.....) .... and uncheck the block pop ups from this side option..
I see you use WindowXP , IE that comes with Windows XP too has a pop up blocker with it... and normally when it disallows a pop up... a blinking occurs ...right below the address bar ... which when clicked takes you to the options .. from where you can choose whether to allow or disallow the pop ups...
