Nothing to worry....

you have only deleted  a shortcut....Not the actual program..

Just go to the Program Files folder...
search for Internet Explorer folder...
Open it...
right click Internet explorer's Icon... and send it to Desktop again...
you desktop Icon will be back...
and when you will click it... it will again open the Internet explorer Like  the way you wanted..

Hi i have tried that but when i open the internet explorer folder it opens as a normal folder where there are other folders and icons.

Answer
It should be in the program Files directory..

else use the search function  to locat  " iexplore.exe"
it should be in
c:\Program files\Internet Explorer    's folder
where C is your Drive letter where WinXp is installed.

this is the explorer's executable...

locate in which folder it is...
then open that folder...and from there...locate " iexploer.exe" ..right click and send to desktop , to have its shortcut on desktop...

By the way...is it in the Start-->>Program List....??
If so ...you can do the same from there too..
Just select is Icon and do the same , ie right click and send to desktop.

If you some how accidently Remove complete Internet Explorer...like via the ADD/Remove appelet..then I am afraid you might have to re-install your windows....
But honestly thats a very Long shot...

...and before doing that... try the Repair fuction  of WinXp

Boot from your Bootable WinXp Cd....
and choose the Repair option ....

hope it helps...
