Question
How do I get rid of addresses in the address bar that show up in the drop-down window after I've gone to those web addresses?

Answer

First the usual..

Tools-->> internet options..

then click the delete files
click the delete cookies..

and click the clear history ( down under ) button...

then click the advanced tab... the extreme right..
Scroll down to the security section..
and check the
Clear history when browser closes option...and
uncheck
the save encrypted pages option

that should take care of your Cache...

Now click the content Tab..
then the Autocomplete button..

uncheck the  Web Address
uncheck  User name pasword

also its a good idea to clear away the stored loginname and passwords by clicking the appropriate  delete buttons..

...Basically all this info is kept in the Index.dat files of the  History/temp internet files /Cookies folder..( yes all three ) and deleting these files usually clears nearly all traces..

these files are in different folders for different windows versions  for  win98 ..etc.. they are usually in the
windows own directoty...and then the appropriate sub directory..

for WinXp... etc.. they are usually found in the document and setting folders.. then in  the appropriate user profiles folders...each user has its own sub folder of history / favourites  ... etc.. etc.. etc..

you can make your task easier by using a fairly good utility called   crap cleaner  or ccleaner..
its a freeware and available for free download from

1- www. filehippo.com   and also
2- www.ccleaner.com

hope it helps..
