Microsoft Internet Explorer - cache

Expert: Lorry - 3/4/2004

Question
i am not sure what is going on, but i know that i seem to have to empty the cache from IE through an independent program called Iclean.  I have the cache set at 8MB and when i feel things are slowing down or i get messages like shockwave doesn't have enough space to load i go and delete the cache through iclean.  i thought the cache was supposeded to "clean" itself automatically.  Am i missing something here.  ps, using ie 5.1 with mac os 9.2 on a g4 400 with 400+ram

thanks

Answer
Hi Alan,

Not sure about iClean and/or Macs, I would suggest opening IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, under the General tab click Delete Cookies, Delete Temporary Files and while there, Clear History once a week.

Not sure if IE 5.1 has this feature, under the Advanced tab under Security, check Empty Temporary Internet Files when browser is closed(In IE6 for PCs).

Hope this helps!
Lorry
