Microsoft Outlook - MS Outlook

Expert: Nancy Janyszeski - 10/8/2009

Question
All of a sudden, when I get a new email, the Outlook icon in the systems tray (?; lower right hand part of screen) no longer changes into an "envelope" to let me know visually that I have new email. What to do?

Answer
Chas, I am not seeing which version of Windows you are using or which version of Outlook.  I can only tell you I lost the icon a long time ago.

However... you  might check the setting from the Tools menu > Options > Email options > Advanced email options > Show an envelope icon in the notification area.

This should be checked.
You might check to see if you accidentally lock your task bar by right clicking it.  You might also check if you have hidden icons.

Nancy
