Microsoft Outlook - Microsoft Outlook E-mail Problems

Expert: Nancy Janyszeski - 4/16/2009

Question
Everyday I delete or put my read messages into folders. And the next day they come back in my inbox as unread. They are still in the proper folders or deleted like i put them, but they come back as duplicates in the inbox daily? This is getting ridiculous and I can't figure out how to make it stop.

Thanks,

Alicia

Answer
Alicia, it sounds like you have a setting that is leaving copies of your emails on the server so when you open Outlook they are downloaded again.

Next time before you open Outlook, go to your webmail and see what is there and double check your preferences.

This is assuming you are not on a network at work in which case you need to check with your network administrator.

I would also check your Rules and Alerts settings to see if somehow you created a rule that might be the reason why this is happening.

Nancy
