Microsoft Outlook - Outlook pst files

Expert: Nancy Janyszeski - 4/27/2009

Question
Hi there,
I was backing up my Outlook pst personal folder, but accidentally tried to open it with Microsoft Woed. Now the file in its folder displays a Word icon, instead of its original Outlook icon. How can I get it to revert back to it's original file format/icon?

Many thanks.

Sharif.

Answer
Hello, it might not make a difference but just in case go to the Windows Explorer > Tools menu > Folder Options > File Types

after the list is populated
find pst

It should show that it is an "Office Data File"

It it does leave it alone, if it shows anything else you might need want to change it.

I would be very careful here .
