Question
QUESTION: When using my Outlook Express for e-mails I do not recieve mail while I have the Outlook open. If I turn Outlook off then restart it shows I have a new message. e.g. if I send myself a message it will not show until I close and re-open Outlook. Is this right?

ANSWER: Bob, you really are not suppose to run Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook on the same computer - this creates a conflict.

Pick one or the other.

QUESTION: Sorry Nancy, did'nt explain too good, I only use Outlook Express and have to shut it down then re-open before new mails appear.
Thanks
Bob

Answer
Bob, - now I understand.

Well, I have never used Outlook Express but in Microsoft Outlook you can either hit the F5 or the F9 keystroke to send and receive mail or there is a setting under the tools menu > Options > Mail Setup

Send immediately when connected and you can also set a time frame for email to be automatically downloaded.

Hopefully this will help.

Nancy
