Microsoft Outlook - Blocking Sender's Email

Expert: Nancy Janyszeski - 7/6/2009

Question
Blocking Sender's E-mail

I have Office 2007.

I have been getting a number of spam emails using a "compound" sender address similar in format to the one below:

; on behalf of; Cody Moya []

I have tried to automatically block the sender by "adding sender to the blocked sender list".  But it doesn't work.

How can I block senders having a similar e-mail address using the capabilities in Outlook 2007?

Answer
Steven, it is very difficult to block these emails as you are finding out.  you can create a rule that blocks a domain but you have to be careful you don't really want to receive email from that domain.

You can create a rule based on subject, again the same problem.j

If you right click an unopened email and select message options you will find the real email these are sent from .

In the end I think you will find that right click > defining as Junk works as good as it gets because next week they will be using a different email to send.
